   US Team...

 Peter Teuten (US Director & Secretary)
 
  Peter is the Founder and President of a Baltimore, MD
 based Risk Management and Technology business
 with interests in the US and UK. Since the late 1970s,
 Peter has been actively engage in the Insurance and
 Risk Management industries in London and the US
 insurance markets. He maintains active interests in a
 number of Risk related fields and since the late 1990s
 has concentrated his efforts and expertise on
 developing processes, methodologies and technology
 to address emerging demands in the Enterprise Risk
 Management and Compliance fields. He is the chief
 architect of a proprietary commercial risk and
 compliance management software deployed through-
 out the US and Europe.
 As an experienced entrepreneur charitable work
 allows Peter to apply his extensive business acumen
 and disciplines to the critical mission of giving back to
 the community and furthering education. Supporting
 African Promise is Peter's lifelong promise of being
 able to make a real difference in the lives of so many
 less fortunate.

 Melanie Brent Carrera (US PR & Events Officer)
 
  Melanie has worked in marketing, public relations,
 and graphic design for nearly twenty years. She is
 currently employed as Director of Marketing &
 Communications for Manekin, LLC, a full-service
 commercial real estate firm. As owner of Murray Hill
 Marketing, her clients included Towson University,
 Sheppard Pratt Health Systems, and KLNB Retail.
 
 Melanie has been actively involved in a number of
 charities, including Susan G. Komen Race for the
 Cure (stage director), Living Classrooms Foundation
 (silent auction coordinator), Family & Children's
 Services (gala coordinator), the SEED Foundation
 (volunteer), and the Society for Progressive
 Supranuclear Palsey (volunteer).

 Susan Stern (US Marketing Officer)
 
  Susan is a certified career and life coach who assists
 individuals in creating and redesigning life visions and
 goals.
  Outside of her private practice she facilitates courses
 at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute and University and
 leads workshops around Baltimore/DC area (RPCS
 adult learning program, Taylor-Royall acting studio,
 Evenings in the Country adult enrichment, evolve well
 studios and Goucher College). 
 Susan has a BA from Goucher College, is a certified
 CTI Life Coach and is an active member of ICF

 (International Coaches Federation).

 Matthew Kozak (US Treasurer)
 
 Matt began his career in January of 1986 with First 
  Maryland Bancorp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allied
 Irish Bank PLC. In 1987 Matt trained and traded on
 AIB’s Foreign Exchange desk in the City of London.
 During the following fifteen years as Vice President of
 Global Proprietary Trading for First Maryland
 Bancorp, and eventually its successor Allfirst Financial
 When Allfirst exited this business line, Matt took a
 position with Morgan Stanley as a Financial Advisor in
 May of 2003. In February of 2009, Matt joined 
 Synergy Financial Group, LPL as an independent
 Financial consultant to provide better service and
 local decision making for his clients.
 After hearing of the work that African Promise was
 doing for kids who desperately want to learn and
 succeed, Matt asked to serve on the committee and
 involve his children with a cause in which they could
 actively participate.
 Matt resides in Phoenix, Baltimore County, Maryland
 with his children Annie (Kids4Kenya committee
 member) and Sam.

  Kenya Team...

 Charles Coldman (Founder & Kenya Director)
 
 Charles is the 24-year-old founder of the charity. He
 first experienced Africa when he visited a school in
 Tanzania with a group from his own secondary school.
 He returned to Africa - this time to Kenya - with the
 volunteer organisation Africa & Asia Venture (AV)
 just over a year later. Africa got under his skin. In
 late 2006, after graduating with a business degree
 from Exeter university, Charles spent six months
 in Kenya managing our very first school development.
 Two years on, he now lives in Kenya directing our
 operations on the ground and our fundraising back in
 the UK.

 Denis Mwanyiro (Project Assistant)
 
 Denis has become the second member of the team
 working on the ground in Kenya. He is 24 years-old
 and from the village of Jora where his family run the
 local 'supermarket'. Having successfully completed a
 month long trial, Denis has now been employed to
 assist Charles with the day-to-day activities of the
 charity but with a view of ultimately taking on project
 management responsibility in the future.

 Nicola Coldman (UK Treasurer)
 Nicola, aged 52, spent 10 years working as a Broker
 and subsequently a Senior Manager with international
 responsibility for a Reinsurance Broker in London
 before the arrival of three children - one of whom is
 founder Charles. She has been Treasurer and
 Fundraiser for a local branch of the charity Wellbeing
 and is currently Treasurer of Hever School Governors
 Fund. She is a classroom assistant at Hever Primary
 School where she is also Vice-Chairman of the
 Governing Body.

 

 Graham Coldman
 Graham, aged 64, spent 35 years in the Banking and
 Finance Industry as a Senior Manager with NatWest.
 Following retirement in 1995 he ran his own sales
 consultancy company. He has been involved with the
 Citizens Advice Bureau in Edenbridge, Kent for the
 past 10 years as a Volunteer Advisor and latterly as
 Deputy Manager. He is a Trustee of several charities
 and is Chairman of the Management Committee of
 Holcot, a young people's holiday hostel in Edenbridge.

 

 Geoff Marshall
 After taking a Law Degree at King's College London,
 Geoff worked on programmes in New York designed
 to improve the educational opportunities of
 disadvantaged children. On returning to the UK, he 
 embarked on a career in Retailing and eventually
 became Managing Director of The Body Shop (UK) Ltd
 and of The Conran Shops Ltd. He was a pension fund
 Trustee in both companies. Since retiring, he has 
 been a non-Executive Director/Chairman of both a  
 publishing and a retail company and has acted as a  
 consultant to a wide variety of other businesses, from
 pharmaceuticals to design. He has for the last 7 years
 been a Justice of the Peace, hearing Adult Crime and
 Family cases as well as appeals in the Crown Court. 
 He also mentors and appraises new Magistrates and is
 a member of the Probation Liaison Committee.
